Another Apple event, another round of frenzied rumors.

As usual, the company offered no details on its "" planned for Sept. 12 in San Francisco, in its standard practice of building maximum suspense before Steve Jobs takes center stage--which, of course, has thrown bloggers into a tizzy of speculation.

Apple rumors

The invitation this time did offer a clue to its general theme, an Apple logo illuminated by Hollywood-premiere spotlights over the phrase: "It's Showtime." So Blogma will go way out on a limb and publicly guess that it has something to do with . But don't hold us to it.

Blog community response:

"There are lots of rumors about new products that will be announced, including a 23-inch iMac, widescreen video iPod, iTunes Movies and my favorite--'one more thing.'"

"Let the speculation intensify! What wonderful PR for Apple over the next week as the debate rages. Will the movies have high enough quality to look good on my 1080p screen or will this primarily be a PC/iPod experience?"
--Colin's Corner

"Think it might be the much rumored iTunes Movie Store? Maybe along with a new iPod? Rumors also say Core 2 Duo iMacs, including a new 23" iMac...who knows."
--macboyx.com

"Given the title of the event, and the number of rumors, it seems a shoe in that Apple will be announcing movie downloads from iTunes, but you never know."
