It's the end of an era for Sydney, Australia's Kings Cross nightlife district, with its iconic Coke billboard being torn down and sold off in a charity auction on eBay.
First erected in 1972, the Coke sign formed an unmistakable part of the Kings Cross landscape. The sign was temporarily taken down in 2015 for refurbishment, and in 2004 the billboard was used to advertise Halo 2, but it's stood as a testament to the precinct's love affair with Coke.
Well, maybe not, but it's been a fixture nonetheless. If you're desperate to own a piece of Sydney's history, the week-long auction hosted by Bid For Good on eBay kicks off at Wednesday, 8 p.m. AEST. Each letter will be listed individually, and the bidding starts at AU$100 a pop.
Proceeds from the charity auction will go to the Wayside Chapel, a local organisation that supports the homeless.
