If your kids are driving you up a wall at home, may I suggest giving them a lizard to drive up the wall instead? The Hex Bots Wall Crawler Gecko just landed on Amazon and't is a delightfully silly remote-controlled robot that scurries across walls.Â
Toymaker Spin Master sent me one for an early test with my kids, and it won me over both as a mom and as someone who delights in making my coworkers squirm. Using a simple remote, you can watch it scale walls or do spin tricks. It works on smooth, flat surfaces, and the remote can be up to 25 feet away.
@bridgetswidgets This is too funny🦎 👀 Just tested the Hex Bots Wall Crawler Gecko, a R/C robot lizard that runs up walls! It’s super light and doesn’t knock down pictures or make marks. Works up to 25 feet away and recharges with a USB-C port. #rc #kids #summerideas #giftideas #robots #fyp #momsoftiktok @spin master @CNET ♬ original sound - Bridget Carey
The robotic lizard has a little vacuum on its belly to keep it suctioned against the wall, but it's so light that it doesn't leave any marks when zipping around. It also didn't knock down any picture frames off my wall after repeated crashes. So don't let the lizard give you anxiety about your walls.
That said, it might cause anxiety to others. So while you laugh at their reactions, at least you will know it's fine.
It recharges with a USB-C port, and the remote control takes two AAA batteries. Its list price is $30, and it'll be sold at Target later this month and Walmart in August.Â
