Google has submitted an iOS app for using Google+ to Apple's App Store, a Google employee reported today on the company's new social network.
"For my iPhone using friends: the Google+ iPhone app has been submitted to the App store (no not today, sometime prior to today) and is awaiting approval," said Erica Joy, a support technician at Google, in a Google+ post today. She clarified in a comment that it's for iOS devices, not just iPhone.
Google launched Google+ with an Android app and a Web interface. The Android app is geared for small devices, though--it's workable but awkwardly stretched on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Apple's iOS devices, though, are very popular, particularly among the digital in-crowd that has managed to get access to Google+ during its restricted initial beta period.
Google also has said it will offer a Google+ API (application programming interface), a move that would make it possible for other programmers to build Google+ apps. An API lets software, not just people, interact with a service, so programmers can create a new interface for a service or potentially build broader services on top of it.
