How long do Walmart's Cyber Monday deals last?
Walmart’s official Cyber Monday sale was a single‑day, online‑only shopping event. While that has ended, we’ve found that many discounts are continuing today, making this a perfect opportunity for extended savings beyond the main event.
Are Walmart Cyber Monday deals available both in-store and online?
No. Unlike Walmart’s Black Friday deals, Cyber Monday offers were online‑only. However, some of these discounts are still available online now, even after Dec. 1.
Will tariffs interfere with remaining Cyber Monday deals?
Many CNET readers are concerned about tariffs and how they could affect holiday shopping. It’s possible tariffs could impact prices, as we’ve seen related hikes in the past, including on Nintendo Switch consoles. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find great deals on tech and other items. The best way to determine if you’re getting a good deal is to track the item’s price history before making a purchase. Tools like CamelCamelCamel and Price Tracker, or the Keepa browser extension can help. We’ve rounded up several useful shopping tools, and we’ll continue to highlight the best lingering deals throughout this extended sale period.
Best retailers still offering holiday deals
- Amazon: One of the world’s largest online retailers, Amazon continues to offer massive discounts with significant savings on tech, home appliances and smart‑home equipment.
- Walmart: Save big on televisions, laptops, appliances and more with Walmart’s extended Cyber Monday pricing.
- Best Buy: Historically a great place to buy TVs, Best Buy still has strong discounts live.
- Home Depot: Eyeing home improvement tools? Home Depot continues to offer discounts on tools, appliances and even grills.
- Target: While not as big on Cyber Monday as other retailers, Target still has solid deals on toys, gifts and board games.
Why are they called Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
The term “black” has historically been used to denote distressing or calamitous events. The earliest known use of Black Friday for the Friday after Thanksgiving was to describe workers calling in sick the day after Thanksgiving in the early 1950s. Around that same time, US police adopted the term to describe the traffic conditions during the first major holiday shopping date.
After attempts to rebrand it as “Big Friday” failed, merchants reframed Black Friday as a positive -- the profits generated put stores “back in the black” financially.
Then, in 2005, the National Retail Federation coined the term “Cyber Monday” after noticing a spike in online traffic the Monday following Thanksgiving. At the time, it was believed shoppers were making online purchases at work to hide gifts from kids and take advantage of faster internet connections. Other names like “Black Monday” or “Blue Monday” were floated, but “Cyber Monday” stuck. By 2014, Cyber Monday had become the biggest online shopping day in the US.
