Dyson Vacuums Rarely Go on Sale. Here Are the 3 Models I Recommend

Dyson makes some of the best cordless vacuums I've tested. Several models are on sale for Amazon's Big Spring Sale, but these three are especially worth considering.

Dyson's V15 Detect is on sale for $680, making it a great buy right now.

Dyson/CNET

Dyson vacuums are some of the most premium models we recommend on our list of the best cordless vacuums. With Amazon's Big Spring Sale coming in hot, many of Dyson's models are currently on sale for hundreds of dollars off their usual price. We've put many of these units through our intensive lab tests at CNET's Louisville lab over the years. Here are the ones we recommend you take a look at during the sale.

Dyson V15 Detect and V15 Detect Plus

Dyson's V15 lineup is currently the mainstay model I recommend to most people interested in a premium Dyson vacuum that offers most of the latest features. Normally $850, you can currently get the V15 Detect on sale for just $660, but the even better deal is the V15 Detect Plus, which offers the same performance but more accessories for $600.

The V15 Detect was a top performer (the V15 Detect Plus should have identical performance), earning an Editors' Choice award as the best Dyson vacuum and for its performance at busting dust.

In our testing, it removed 97% of sand from hardwood floors and also excelled at carpet pickup, removing 95% off low-pile carpet and 88% from midpile. I particularly liked its green LED illumination on the Laser Slim Fluffy Cleaner head, which is ideally optimized for hard floors, letting you spot dust you typically wouldn't see. There's also a dirt sensor that automatically adjusts suction.

Notably, for me as a pet owner, the Slim Fluffy head is designed to prevent pet hair from tangling or clogging, and it left virtually no fur behind in our tests. The solid 60-minute battery life is also one of the longest tested times on a cordless vacuum, though shy of the 80-minute Shark Stratos that you can also currently find on sale.

Dyson V11 and V11 Origin

The Dyson V11 is on a substansial sale for Amazon's big spring sale.

Dyson's V11 lineup may not be as flashy as the V15, but it has plenty going for it, and it's on an even bigger sale right now. You can get the V11 for $465, while the V11 Origin is $470. They're both usually $630.

Both models should perform identically to the Dyson V11 Torque Drive that comes with a different, more powerful cleaner head, but otherwise offers the same performance.

When we tested it in the lab, the V11 Torque impressed us by removing nearly 100% of the sand from hardwood floors. It also offered solid performance on low-pile carpet with 78% pickup and 71% on midpile. That's superb performance for the price. The V11 lineup is a good middle-of-the-road pick that won't bust your budget.

Dyson V8

The Dyson V8 is one of the most affordable Dyson vacuums you can buy right now.

Brian Bennett/CNET

The Dyson V8 is one of the oldest Dyson cordless vacuums that the company still sells, but that doesn't mean it's not worth considering. Available for $350, down from its usual price of $540, the V8 is one of the most affordable Dysons you can get.

We tested the very similar V8 Absolute, which offers the same suction power and battery life (the only difference is that it comes with more accessories). In lab testing, the V8 Absolute picked up 98% of sand from hardwood floors and did respectably on both carpet types, removing 68.3% from low-pile and 52% from midpile. These are all impressive capabilities for a cordless vacuum first released in 2016 that continues to hold its own in performance.
