There's no shortage of options when you're in the market for a new controller, whether it's for your Xbox or PC, but you might be surprised at just how cheap an official Xbox wireless controller can be bought for. Walmart is the place to be if you don't mind going with the black version with the retailer offering an Xbox controller for just $39. That's not quite the cheapest we've seen this controller sell for, but it isn't far off.

While this Xbox controller comes in a variety of colors, you'll need to pay a few more dollars if black isn't your cup of tea -- the stunning pulse red one is $44, for example. The controller can connect to your console, a PC or a phone via Bluetooth, plus it has a share button to capture screenshots and videos, and a 3.5mm audio jack so you can pair it with your favorite headphones. With the Xbox Accessories app, you can also customize the button mapping.

Why this deal matters

Xbox controllers are typically $60 or more and don't tend to drop below $40, so this is as low as you're going to find them outside of a buy one, get one deal. Considering a lot of people need more than one controller, it's best to take advantage of this discount while it's available.
