As a runner, I've got a lot of gear: an Apple Watch Series 10 for tracking runs using the Strava app, a pair of Powerbeats Pro 2 for listening to my running jams Spotify playlist, Feetures socks and New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5 shoes. While I've been wearing a pair of Goodr sunglasses, I've been tempted to upgrade to a pair of Oakley Meta HSTNs, which are $399 during Amazon's Big Spring Sale. I may have to order them now. The Oakley HSTNs open-ear audio, activity-sharing capabilities and camera make me want to add a pair to my running arsenal.
The glasses do cut a bold look.
The Meta Oakley HSTN smart glasses are discounted by up to 17%, dropping to a tempting $399. While that may not seem cheap, a pair typically costs between $449 and $479. I've been eyeing (pun fully intended) a set for a while. The sports-oriented smart glasses are equipped with a 12-megapixel camera for sharp photos and can shoot high-quality videos up to 3K resolution. There's open-ear audio for taking calls and listening to music or podcasts.
The HSTNs are IPX4 sweat- and splash-resistant, which should hold up for a lot of different outdoor adventuring. Moreover, there's Garmin and Strava integration, so you can add performance metrics like your heart rate or pace from your hike, bike ride, run and other activities to photos and pictures you took along the way. As a Meta product, Meta AI comes on board, so you can get real-time answers to questions, translate text, identify landmarks and perform other feats.

You can pick sunglasses with different lens options, including polarized, non-polarized, clear and transitions. While you can get the Meta Oakley HSTN with prescription lenses, Amazon only offers non-prescription lenses. You might be able to get a pair from Amazon, then get aftermarket lenses from your eye doctor or an outlet like Lensology. Since I've been running in non-prescription lenses, I'm ready for everything to be less blurry.
In his hands-on assessment, Scott Stein liked the on-paper improved battery life of the Oakley HSTN glasses, but noted that the sporty style could be tough to pull off. I take that as a personal challenge, Scott.
I've been excited to get a pair of Meta Oakley HSTN sunglasses for running and hiking, so I can add Strava stats to pictures, use its open-audio to stream my running playlist and take pictures or videos of my dog while we're on a walk together without having to use my phone. Combined with my Apple Watch Series 10 and its cellular connectivity for calling and texting, the HSTN would let me take pictures and videos on the go, so I'd be able to head out without my phone more often.
Why this deal matters
The Meta Oakley HSTN glasses are packed with useful features but are also heavy on the wallet. This deal drops them to an easier-to-swallow price.
