Motorola’s black wireless-to-USB Android Auto dongle floats over a colorful backdrop

This USB-to-wireless adapter makes connecting to your Android Auto-capable vehicle as easy as getting in and going.

Motorola / CNET

Stop fumbling with the USB cable every time you hit the road. Motorola Sound's MA1 wireless adapter for Android Auto is currently discounted to just $35 during Amazon's Spring Sale. Plug this dongle into your Android Auto-compatible vehicle to upgrade to wireless connectivity without cables cluttering up your car's cabin. At $55 off the original price -- or about $20 cheaper than its typical "on sale" price -- this is the best deal I've seen on the MA1 since its debut.

For clarity, the Motorola Sound MA1 is a wireless adapter for Android Auto. That means the purpose of this dongle is to convert an existing wired Android Auto-capable vehicle or receiver's USB connection to support wireless connectivity. However, the MA1 won't add Android Auto connectivity to a vehicle that doesn't already support the technology -- for that, you'll need to upgrade your receiver. Keep that in mind before you buy.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deal texts are free, easy and save you money.

After plugging the MA1 into your vehicle's USB type-A port and pairing your Android phone, you'll be able to automatically reconnect to Android Auto, Google Maps and Google Play Apps at the beginning of every subsequent trip without reaching for a USB cable. Should you wish to go back to a wired connection to charge and stream on a longer trip, simply disconnect the dongle. This is a small but welcome quality-of-life upgrade for older Android Auto-capable vehicles that only support wired connectivity, and (with the 2026 Spring Sale discounts) a great, inexpensive mod for drivers who are frequently in and out of their cars.

Why this deal matters

Connecting your phone to your car via Android Auto is a great way to add a lot of functionality to your commute -- such as Google Maps, hands-free calling, audio streaming apps and voice search -- without also adding more distractions. A wireless adapter streamlines the pairing process for older vehicles that typically only support USB connectivity and reduces wear and tear on your phone's USB port. Motorola is a well-known brand and one of the longest-running makers of USB-to-wireless dongles for this technology, so I trust the quality of the MA1.
