Netvue by Birdfy bird feeder against CNET's spring sale commerce background.
Birdfy/CNET

If you're hunting for the best outdoor deals this Spring Sale, the Netvue Birdfy is one of the standout upgrades for your backyard. It's a smart bird feeder with a built-in camera that sends high-quality video straight to your phone. While the usual $167 price tag is a bit steep, the Amazon Spring Sale has dropped the price of the solar-powered model to $136. That's a $31 discount on a gadget that makes birdwatching a lot more interactive.

This solar-powered bird feeder features a 1080p smart camera with full-color night vision. The camera is centered on the feeder to optimize your view, and you can watch a live video feed of birds at the feeder or snap still images. The Birdfy app has an AI feature that helps identify bird species from images and lets you easily share them with friends and family.

The Netvue Birdfy deal comes in two colors: blue and yellow. It features a sheltered spot for birds to land and enough space to hold over 6 cups of food at once (1.5 liters).

If you're hoping to spend a little less, Amazon currently also has the battery-operated version for $130, down from its usual $200 price tag. You get all of the same features, minus the solar panel, meaning you'll just have to remember to charge it periodically or risk missing out on some feathered friends.

If you're looking for other budget-friendly ideas to upgrade your porch, we've rounded up the deals under $25. And be sure to scope out our favorite Amazon Spring Sale deals and Best Buy deals.

Why this deal matters

A friend of mine received one of these as a gift and she has regaled me with images ever since, including images of several species of songbirds and hilarious up-close imagery of one extremely intrepid squirrel. At a starting price of $167 listing price might feel like a bit of a splurge for a hobbyist, the current deal brings it down to $136. And I can tell you the hours of joy and hilarity it has brought us is worth at least that.
