I've written before about how airfare is expensive, but there are key ways to save on plane tickets and ideal times to book for the cheapest tickets possible. With travel being at the forefront of my mind, I'm always looking out for a promotion or discount to stretch my travel budget as far as it can go. And just in time, there's a can't-miss travel deal going live soon.
The budget Icelandic airline, Play, will be offering US customers 30% off flights to Iceland, Copenhagen, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Berlin and Dublin between Feb. 11 and Feb. 18. That's handy if you're thinking about a last-minute Valentine's Day excursion, but there are also other windows open in 2025.
For those of you who like to comparison shop, remember you can also look to see what's available on Google Flights or via other sites like Travelocity and Kayak.

More details about Play's 30% off airfare deal
Note, there are a few caveats to this promotion, such as departing location and timing.
This deal is only available to travelers booking flights from:
- Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
- New York Stewart International Airport (SWF)
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
This deal is also only valid for flights booked between:
- Feb. 2 to 15
- Feb. 25 to 28
- March 23 to April 6
- April 8 to May 11
- May 13 to 25
- Sept. 7 to Oct.19
This deal is first come, first served. When booking flights through Play, the advertised discount will be automatically deducted from the cost on the flight select step in the booking engine. If discounted airfare is not displayed, the offer does not apply to the selected dates you've entered or the discounted seats are sold out. The discount only applies to the actual airfare, and excludes taxes, fees, carrier charges and additional services, such as baggage allowance or seat selection.
Why this deal matters
Flights to Europe from the US will typically cost you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars roundtrip. Taking advantage of discounted airfare can help you achieve your bucket list vacation while stretching your budget. Traveling during the winter, early spring or fall months can also shield you from the peak crowds and prices of the summer months.
