We have good news for Garmin users: you no longer need a separate app to track your nutrition. Previously, the only way to do this through Garmin was with the MyFitnessPal integration (which remains active), but the company announced at CES 2026 that it will now offer the ability to track calories and macros (including protein, fat and carbohydrates) directly in its Connect Plus app.

There are three ways to track your meals on Garmin's premium app: Search in a global database, scan a barcode or take a picture and have AI analyze the image to parse out the ingredients. This makes it similar to apps like Oura (for the Oura Ring) and Zoe Health.

Using your tracked meals, Garmin Connect Plus provides daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports on your nutrition, along with customizable recommendations based on your activity level, average active calories, height, weight and gender. Powered by AI, Active Intelligence provides insights into how your nutrition may impact your training and overall health. These nutrition details can be added to your performance dashboard or viewed on a compatible Garmin smartwatch.

The Garmin Connect Plus app costs $7 per month or $70 per year. New customers can try the app free for 30 days. For customers who have already tried Connect Plus, Garmin is offering a 14-day free trial, allowing you to try out the new nutrition-tracking feature.
