Anker isn't new to the battery-powered electric cooler market. The EverFrost 50 portable cooler was first launched on Kickstarter in 2023. Since then, the company has continued to sell portable coolers in various sizes. At CES 2025, Anker teased its new Solix EverFrost 2 electric cooler, packed with improved cooling, faster recharging and an extended battery life.Â
CNET experts are testing the EverFrost 2 in our product testing lab in Louisville to determine whether it's a worthy addition to our list of best coolers. In the meantime, here's what's new.
Improved cooling and portabilityÂ
The EverFrost 2 electric cooler comes in three sizes: 23L, 40L and 58L.Â
Available in 23 liters, 49L and 58L sizes, the EverFrost 2 has a proprietary air-cooled refrigeration technology, which, according to Anker, allows it to cool 30% faster than traditional coolers when fully loaded. It can maintain temperatures ranging from -4°F to 68°F. This works through a combination of fans in the cooler that operate together with the compressor, providing airflow through the unit that cools everything within -- and fast. The cooler can go from 77°F to 32°F in only 15 minutes when empty.Â
That means you don't need ice, which makes the cooler lighter to tote around and gives you more space to load up drinks and food without worrying about things like sandwiches getting wet.Â
The design accommodates travel well, with two 6-inch wheels, a fold-down tray that doubles as a handle and an IPX3 waterproof rating. The 58L version also comes with two separate compartments, letting you freeze and cool different items at the same time or separate food and drinks. You can also pick up a slew of optional accessories, including a road trip kit, hook-on tray and beach wheels.Â
Longer battery life and more recharging options Â
The cooler comes with 6-inch wheels and a handle that doubles as a tray.
Aside from cooling capabilities, the big selling point here is battery life. The EverFrost 2 is powered by a removable 288 watt-hour LiFePO4 battery. It provides 52 hours of cooling on a single charge and can work with a second battery to extend to 104 hours. That should be enough for a weekend at the beach or a camping trip. It'll also keep your devices topped up with a 60W USB-C charging port and 12W USB-A charging port.Â
There are also plenty of recharging options, including portable 100-watt solar panels, AC charging, a car socket and USB-C. Recharging time is pretty reasonable, with a 95W adapter topping it up in 3.6 hours, a 14.8V car charger in 3.6 hours and a 100W solar panel in 3.65 hours.Â
The EverFrost 2 also pairs nicely with Anker's solar umbrella, a foldable and fully functional umbrella with "Pereovskite solar cells" that improve solar generation by 30% in bright light and double its efficiency in low-light conditions. The umbrella's XT-60 and USB-C ports allow you to output 100W and it'll also work with portable power stations.
The solar umbrella works with the EverFrost 2 cooler and various Anker portable power stations.
