There are many great robot vacuums on the market, and at a glance, it seems that they're all starting to look and do the same things. However, in its most recent release, Eufy is beginning to push the boundaries. The new Eufy S1 Pro offers features I've never seen in any other robot vacuum, from how it cleans to the base station itself -- this device has quickly become my favorite for tidying my floors.

The basic functions of the vacuum are the same as many others. It cleans up dust and debris, it has a self-wetting mop, there's a dock to recharge the vacuum and it empties itself at the base stations. You know, the things that have become increasingly common among new robot vacuums. But it's how the Eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro does it and how good of a job it does that stands out for me.

Design and hardware: 10-in-1 UniClean Station

The touchscreen display on the base station's top is great to see the status of the vacuum and dock, but also to control the vacuum.

When I first saw the Eufy Omni S1 Pro and its base station, it was clear that the brand emphasized design. Instead of a short, boxy look for the 10-in-1 UniClean Station, Eufy opted for a tall cubic design with curves everywhere. The Omni S1 Pro looks nothing like any other robot vacuum on the market, in good ways.

Starting from the top, there is a full-color touchscreen to view the station and vacuum's status, along with the ability to start the cleaning process from the screen. Everything you need is fully accessible from the top, which means no bending over to access things like the dirty water reservoir, the clean water tank, the cleaning solution, or the dust collection bag.

The Omni S1 Pro's tall and slim build makes accessing the clean and dirty water reservoirs and touchscreen controls simple.

Aside from looking good, the UniClean Station is highly functional. Perhaps the most impressive feature of the base station is the clean water reservoir. Once filled with clean tap water, the UniClean Station begins to sanitize the 3-liter tank by adding ozone. This process not only looks cool, but it also removes up to 99.99% of E. coli and other bacteria, according to testing by TÜV Rheinland Laboratory. After sterilizing the water, a cleaning solution is mixed into it as it fills the reservoir in the vacuum.

Watching the Omni S1 Pro add ozone to the clean water tank for sterilization is mesmerizing.

The UniClean Station is also where the vacuum repeatedly returns while cleaning floors. In the Eufy Clean app, you can specify how frequently the cleaner returns to the station to get fresh water and discharge the dirty. This helps ensure that your floors get the cleanest water possible and you're not putting gross stuff back onto them.

When the cleaning cycle is complete, the base station removes all of the dirty water and empties the dust bin. Then, it begins washing the mop roller and drying it with 131 degrees Fahrenheit (55 Celsius) hot air.

Design and hardware: Omni S1 Pro Robot Vacuum

Though Eufy didn't put a navigation and mapping put on top of the vacuum, the Omni S1 Pro makes accurate maps of your home and avoids obstacles.

The vacuum itself is a bit of a rounded-off, square-looking device that lacks what's become a hallmark of most modern robot vacuums -- navigation and mapping puck on top of the unit. With that gone, the vacuum looks sleek, and the slimmer profile means it can get under more furniture to clean.

But don't let the lack of a top hat give the impression that the Omni S1 Pro is going to get lost and run over cords. The updated mapping sensors that make up the True Course Mapping feature do a great job. Instead of needing to drive all around my house to get a lay of the land, the S1 Pro simply took a quick peek into all the available rooms and was done. The resulting map and navigation paths were spot-on, leading to efficient cleaning.

When it came to cleaning up, the vacuum and mop combo was great. A simple but helpful feature is the dual spinning side brushes. Regardless of the direction the vacuum is going, it can always get up to the edges. But my favorite cleaning feature is the mop.

I've tested robot vacuums with vibrating and rotating mop pads, and the Eufy Omni S1 Pro has one I've never seen—a roller mop. It reminds me of a paint roller, but it is 11.4 inches long and presses down onto the floor to do a fantastic cleaning job. It lifts up a half inch to try and avoid carpets.

The 11.4-inch roller mop spans almost the entirety of the vacuum and leads to faster and more thorough cleaning.

The brush spins nearly three times every second to clean the floor. But the neat part is that it never has dirty water on it. As the roller spins back into the vacuum, it is scraped and rinsed to remove the gross stuff and replace it with clean water. This process and the solid 11.4-inch-width mopping action for this vacuum are the best I've ever experienced.

As for the vacuuming performance, while we're still testing the unit in our lab, I feel like the Omni S1 Pro does a good job on hard flooring and usually on carpets. But there were times when, after it finished cleaning, I still had some spots of pet hair on the rug. Where I'd give the mop a 10/10, I'd probably go with a 7.5/10 for the vacuuming on the carpet for pet hair.

The mop is continuously scraped of dirty water and rinsed with clean to ensure you always have a clean mop on your floor.

Should you buy the Eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro?

Eufy's sanitizing process for the clean water tank is unique and helps ease users' minds over how clean their floors can be.

If you have a big budget and are looking for a combo robot vacuum and mop, then probably yes. For starters, this is a $1,500 device. Secondly, the reason it's probably a yes is dependent on your home. If you have a lot of hard floors, 100% yes, this is a great choice in robot vacuums. If you have a lot of carpets and pets, then it may not be the best option, as there are some excellent robot vacuums for pet owners.

Don't get me wrong, the Omni S1 Pro does a good job with carpets. But with the star being the mopping system, the vacuum itself is just above average. As a package, this is a fantastic device that has been excellent in keeping the floors of my county road home clean during my move. The navigation and obstacle avoidance are great, amazing mopping action, excellent design and more make this the best vacuum I've used yet.
