Petcube debuted a super-smart drinking fountain at CES 2025's Pepcom, equipped with more technology than we've ever seen on a pet fountain.

Sure, some pet fountains are wireless and battery-powered like Petcube's, but we haven't seen any fountain that also connects to the app so you can get updates on when to change filters and keep your pet's water sparkly fresh. Its 2,600-mAh battery is also rated for up to 20 days of use before you need to plug it in for a quick charge.

Inside the high-tech, 1.7-liter Water Fountain is a UV-C anti-bacterial light and four-layer filtration system, with filters designed to last for about a month before needing to be replaced. But it's the attention to detail in this fountain that really stands out.

The magnetic pump is designed to flow as soundlessly as possible and includes a motion sensor so it can pump up the pressure when a thirsty cat or doggo approaches. There are even LED indicators that can show you the status of features like the filter if you prefer not to use the app. Overall, it feels like a very next-gen pet fountain with upgrades we didn't even know we wanted (but now we do).

Petcube will offer both a ceramic base and a stainless steel bowl. Whichever pet owners choose, the fountain comes with rubber feet to stay in place and a charging cable with a "chew-proof" design if your pet gets a little too excited.

Pet fountains have long been an effective way to make sure smaller pets get enough water from day to day. That's especially important for house cats, which don't always drink as much as they should (their desert genes at play) but still need plenty of water for kidney and urinary health. 

Small to mid-size dogs can benefit from the fountain too. Plus, the moving water often makes pets feel more comfortable drinking what feels like a fresh source. If you or your vet have been worried that your pet isn't lapping up enough, a pet fountain could make a significant difference.

Petcube is currently offering pre-orders for its Water Fountain and is planning a full release on March 1. The ceramic version of the pet fountain is selling for $90 and the stainless steel version for $70.
