PeopleSoft sees revenue above views

PeopleSoft on Monday predicted that its third-quarter revenue would exceed Wall Street expectations, saying it added 150 new customers and had more large software license transactions than in the previous quarter.

PeopleSoft, which is fending off a hostile takeover bid from rival Oracle and which on Friday ousted its chief executive, also forecast earnings for the third quarter in line with Wall Street estimates.

Revenue should range from $680 million to $695 million, and earnings, excluding one-time items, should be 13 cents or 14 cents per share, the company said. That compares with an average expectation among Wall Street analysts of $662 million in revenue and 14 cents per share in earnings, according to Reuters Estimates.
