Apple's iPhone 16, 16 Plus Show Off Bolder Colors and Buttons

Apple's iPhone 16 and 16 Plus bring bolder colors and new features to the base level iPhone.

The iPhone 16 camera module returns to the side-by-side layout last seen with the iPhone 12. This allows the cameras to take spatial photos and video that can be viewed on the Apple Vision Pro headset.

Apple's iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are available in ultramarine (blue), teal (green) and pink. Those more bolder colors come alongside traditional white and black options.

The iPhone 16 comes with a 6.1-inch display while the 16 Plus comes with a 6.7-inch display.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have a 48-megapixel main camera alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera.

Inside the iPhone 16 is a new A18 processor, which will be capable of running Apple Intelligence AI features.

The iPhone 16 includes a new camera control button, that allows for access to both the camera app and additional settings.

You can give a lighter, half-press on the camera control button for specific functions.

The Action button comes to the base iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, providing a customizable control that replaces the mute switch. If you miss that switch though, you can assign this button to do the same function.

The addition of buttons feels like an about-face from Apple's prior design philosophies, which saw the elimination of the home button last seen on the iPhone 8.

The iPhone 16 is said to have a "bigger battery" than prior iPhone models, but Apple didn't provide specific specs for comparison.

The entire iPhone 16 line features the base iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 features rounded corners on its design, much like prior iPhones.

The iPhone 16 line gets faster 25-watt wireless charging using its MagSafe accessories. While that speed will require one of Apple's wireless chargers, you can also get fast 15-watt wireless charging using Qi2 accessories.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus is also powerful enough to run higher-end games that were previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This includes iOS versions of Resident Evil 4 Remake and Death Stranding.
