Bobsledding action at the Olympics (photos)

CNET's Ina Fried has been chronicling tech and other aspects of the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. On Friday, she checked out action on the bobsled runs.

Fried borrowed a 70-200mm L-series lens from Canon to shoot Friday's bobsled images. The lens was a huge help, Fried says, but as you can see here, her first few shots captured more track than sled.

In this shot, we get almost all of the German sled rounding a turn.

A Japanese sled heads through a turn. Hooray! The full sled is in the center of the frame.

With its passengers hunkered down for aerodynamic reasons, a Russian sled has the attention of spectators.

For the sleds to get their best performance, the runs need constant maintenance and attention to detail.

It's not just the track that needs tender loving care. Here, a member of the broadcast crew cleans the lens of a television camera.
