The Chevy S-10 Blazer joins the lineup in 1983

For the 1983 model year, Chevrolet introduced the smaller S-10 Blazer to slot beneath the larger K5 Blazer.

Unlike its bigger brother, the S-10 Blazer did not feature a removable top. 

Initially, the S-10 Blazer was only offered in a two-door body style.

A four-door version would eventually join the lineup in 1991.

The four-door model featured a 6.5-inch-longer wheelbase compared to the two-door model.  

At launch, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 83 horsepower served as the base engine option in all states with the exception of California.  

Serving as the premium engine was a 2.8-liter V6 with 110 horsepower.  

A diesel engine option was also available in the form of a 2.2-liter unit churning out 58 horsepower.   

In 1988, Chevy offered a larger 4.3-liter V6 engine with 150 horsepower.

The first-generation S-10 Blazer production covered the 1982 to 1994 model years.
