Frigidaire fumbles with this gas range

The $2,700 Frigidaire FPGH3077RF gas stove looks good and does a few things well. But overall, the appliance isn't worth your investment.

The Frigidaire FPGH3077RF is a standard 30-inch wide range with a gas cooktop and gas oven. It's stainless steel with a slide-in design, which means all of the range's controls and knobs are located on the front of the unit and there's no back panel.

There are three different types of racks that come with the oven: a traditional rack, an offset rack for baking roasting larger dishes and a fully extendable gliding rack (shown in this picture).

The gas oven is 5.1 cubic feet. There's also a convection fan in the back wall to help circulate hot air during baking and roasting.

At first glance, the gas cooktop has five burners. Technically, the one in the middle is made up of two parts: a circular burner in the center that's surrounded by an oval burner (you can control each part independently).

You have to control two knobs to operate the oven -- one to select the type of cooking you want to do (such as bake or convection roast), and one to select the temperature.

The pictures on the left show two sheets of biscuits that were convection baked at the same time. The biscuits in the top left picture baked on a higher rack than the biscuits in the bottom left picture. The pictures on the right show representations of the biscuits' brownness.

The Frigidaire FPGH3077RF roasted a tasty chicken thanks to the convection fan in the back wall of the oven.

Biscuits I cooked on the traditional bake setting came out barely done.
