HP's Omen is about as good-looking as 17-inch gaming laptops get

This is the 17-inch HP Omen, a laptop you can deck out with a Nvidia GeForce 1070 from $1,600.

It's stylish for a gaming laptop -- not too plain, but not too gaudy, either. 

The back is two-tone black, with carbon fibre trimmings. 

The keyboards bleed red, reminding you that you are, in fact, using a gaming laptop.

It's a big machine, but thinner and lighter than many competing 17-inch laptops. 

I lugged this around the office with no problem, but it's still not something you'd want to take with you on public transport. 

There are more powerful laptops out there, some of which are very slim, but the HP Omen offers a great mix of power, design and affordability.
