Intel's pocket-sized Compute Card will update your IoT devices

Have a smart TV or that's been using the same OS for years? Your next one might not age quite as quickly -- if it's got a slot for the Intel Compute Card that was revealed at CES 2017.

The Compute Card is a tiny computer that's designed to be a slot-in upgrade for IoT devices, meaning you can stick this little fellow in when your appliance needs an update.

Intel says it's working with manufacturers like Dell, HP, Lenovo and Sharp to design compatible devices that can take advantage of the card's smarts.

Even though it packs a 7th-gen Intel Core processor, it has about the same thickness as five stacked credit cards.

The Intel Compute Card is expected to arrive in mid-2017; until then you can check CNET for more info.
