Apple revealed the fifth generation of the iPad today, distinguishing it from the still-in production iPad 2 with a new name, calling it the iPad Air.

The new iPad Air deserves its name, coming in at just 1 pound, lighter than the almost 2-pound iPad.

Apple reduced the size of the bezel around the Retina display by 43 percent.

About 2 millimeters were shaved off the thickness to make the iPad Air.

It measures an extremely thin 7.5 millimeters (0.3-inch).

The iPad Air has a 5-megapixel iSight camera on the rear that Apple says takes improved low light shots.

The iPad Air runs the A7 chip, which Apple says makes it 8 times faster than the previous generation.

The iPad Air goes for $499 with Wi-Fi and 16GB of storage, and $629 for the cellular-connected version.
