The Iriver P7 is a touch-screen portable video player, offered in 8GB ($169) and 16GB ($199) capacities.

The P7 sports a gorgeous aluminum design and offers music, video, radio, and photo playback, as well as voice recording and a text reader.

Unlike the iPod Touch you won't find advanced features such as Wi-Fi on the P7, but its relatively low price and large, 4.3-inch screen make it a tempting purchase for video fans.

The Iriver P7 comes bundled with earbuds, a touch-screen stylus, a USB cable, and a mini CD filled with software.

Iriver appropriately describes its main menu screen as magazine-like, laying out each of the player's functions on a single screen, compartmentalized into an attractive arrangement of boxes.

We have some legitimate gripes with the P7, but design isn't one of them. The sleek aluminum body looks like it belongs in a modern art museum.

The majority of the P7 is operated using touch-screen controls, however, you'll find teeny, tiny buttons for power, menu, and volume on the top edge of the player.

The P7's headphone jack is on the right edge, along with a hold switch, and a microSD memory slot covered by a plastic door.

The Iriver P7's rated battery life of 35 hours of audio and 7 hours of video is impressive for a device that runs under $200.

Rather than a main menu with text or icons representing the various modes, the Iriver P7's home screen is laid out like a magazine, with a thumbnail of the last item played or viewed acting as the jumping-off point.

The P7 is a fully loaded PVP with video and music playback, a photo viewer, an FM tuner, and voice recording.

A 4.3-inch touch screen dominates the front of the device and acts as the principal controls for the player's functions.

The P7 is flash-based and will be available in 8GB and 16GB capacities. We'd like to see 32GB in a device like this as well.

The bottom of the P7 features a proprietary docking port, which connects to the included cradle. The cradle itself has a secondary battery off of which the player may be powered. There's also a microSD card slot concealed beneath a flap.

The side of the device houses power and hold switches along with a standard headphone jack and pinhole mic.

The P7 is rated for an impressive 35 hours of audio playback and includes SRS WOW HD as well as seven EQ presets.
