LG Gallery OLED puts your TV in a frame. But is it art? (pictures)

BERLIN -- Click through to see more pictures of the LG Gallery OLED, an OLED TV that comes with a picture-frame surround. This picture shows a frame with half the canvas cut away, so you can see what the speakers look like.

It looks like a painting mounted on a wall, but that's a 55-inch OLED TV in the centre. The actual frame you'll get looks a bit like this one, but with a grey surround instead of bronze. Speakers are hidden beneath the canvas.

This cutaway reveals the speakers hidden within the frame. The panel is 1080p, as 4K OLED TVs remain elusive.

Here's the Gallery OLED hanging in a typical European home.

While OLED looks gorgeous, this TV picks up plenty of reflections -- you can make out our intrepid photographer Nick Hide in this shot, for instance.

This gaudy frame is just a concept, and isn't an option for shoppers. LG told me it might produce it for real if enough people buy the TV, though.

You can swing the TV out to view it at an angle, if you choose.
