The hitch is that KB has a smart home partnership with Apple, so most of the products they install in homes work with HomeKit.

That means they're often tied to Siri-based voice control.

So, if you aren't an iPhone user, their smart device partnerships won't be quite as useful.

Many of the devices, like this Lutron in-wall dimmer switch, work with more than one smart home platform.

Amazon Alexa devices, for instance, work with Lutron, Philips and a number of other HomeKit-compatible products.

Still, you're a little limited in terms of smart home brands and platforms.

The home was outfitted with an Ecobee3 Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat.

They also made use of the remote Ecobee sensor to help track home and away status.

The house has Lutron Serena window shades, too.

KB's model smart home also has a First Alert Onelink Environmental Monitor in the nursery.

Onelink tracks temperature, humidity and carbon monoxide over Wi-Fi.
