Motorola Atrix 4G laptop dock (photos)

Browsing on the Motorola Atrix 4G laptop dock is a mixed bag; the dock has its own Firefox browser that's Flash-capable, but it feels a little more sluggish than a normal laptop.

The laptop dock has a large, comfortable touch pad, but the keyboard, though wide, is more compressed than on a full-size laptop. It's more comparable to a Netbook.

Using a mouse plugged into the rear USB port, you can speed up point-and-click browsing a bit.

Two rear USB ports are compatible with mice, or with USB flash drives.

The flip-up dock for the Atrix phone resides on the back of the dock, behind the screen. The phone docks sideways; unfortunately, you can't see your phone while you're using the Atrix in laptop mode, although you'll be able to see what's on the phone's screen on the dock's 11.5-inch display.

Compared with other Netbooks and 11-inch laptops, the Atrix dock is much thinner, but with a wider base. Seen here: stacked on top of a Lenovo ThinkPad x120e and an HP Mini 1103.

The ThinkPad x120e and Motorola Atrix dock side by side, opened up: the Atrix dock has a far larger touch pad, but a much smaller keyboard.

The Motorola Atrix dock is even pretty thin when compared with an iPad.
