Nokia Lumia 620, rollin' in the cheap (pictures)

Newsflash: most smartphones cost $500 or more retail price. Nokia's Lumia 620 offers quite a few features for half that.

Nokia Lumia 620

Nokia set out to make an affordable phone for the global masses that doesn't strip out all the features. The Nokia Lumia 620 has a dual-core processor, an HD video camera, NFC, and Windows Phone 8's operating system. It'll cost just $249.

Hello, lime!

In addition to lime, the Lumia 920 comes in cyan, magenta, white, and black shades.

Splashing out

It may be an affordable smartphone, but that doesn't mean it has to be a plain black box. Nokia gave its 620's back panel two layers of color.

Glossy and matte

Apart from the lime hue, these colors and finishes align with other Lumia handsets.

Taste the rainbow

Ok, these are Spree, not Skittles, but you get the idea.

Behind the shell

Good luck finding the SIM card slot. First you have to peel the back cover, then reach beneath the microSD card slot for the SIM door.

Harder than it looks

To remove the exoskeleton and get to the phone's guts, push against the camera module with your thumb while pulling the case back from the face.

Buttons

Buttons control the camera shutter, volume, and power/lock screen. Some respond slower than I'd like.

Width

No paragon of svelteness, the Lumia 620 measures 0.43-inch thick.

All about the camera

The Lumia 620 has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, and can shoot 720p HD video at a rate of 30 frames per second.
