Nreal light mixed-reality glasses look like a pair of Oakley sunglasses

At CES, Nreal announced a pair of MR glasses the size of a pair of chunky Oakley sunglasses.

The small size and bold primary colors are part of the Nreal Light's core audience: the consumer.

Nreal takes a similar approach to Magic Leap by separating the glasses and the processor.

An over-the-shoulder cable connects the glasses and processor pack.

The image is bright and the field of view, 52 degrees, is wider than that on the Magic Leap or Microsoft Hololens.

The real challenge for Nreal will be media. We're still in the chicken-or-egg days of mixed-reality content and, just as it will for Microsoft and Magic Leap, that will ultimately be the key to success or failure for Nreal.

Nreal Light glasses will launch in late summer or early fall. While a price wasn't announced, I was told that the glasses would be a fraction of the cost of the Magic Leap One or Hololens.
