Philips gives floodlights the SlimStyle treatment (pictures)

The Philips SlimStyle BR30 LED is a floodlight follow-up to the original SlimStyle LED. Click through for a closer look.

Like the original SlimStyle, the BR30 version sports an unusually flat design.

This sets it apart from other BR30 bulbs, which are typically much bulkier.

The SlimStyle BR30 LED weighs just 3.5 ounces -- less than half the heft of some of its competitors.

The SlimStyle BR30 LED puts out 650 lumens from a power draw of 9.5 watts. Philips claims it'll last 25,000 hours.

The bulb glows at a warm, incandescent-like color temperature of 2,700 K.

You might notice some flickering as you dim the SlimStyle, especially with older dimmer switches.

At just $13 each, the Philips SlimStyle BR30 is one of the most affordable LED floodlights on the market. You'll be able to find them for sale on Home Depot shelves later in August.
