The Motorola U9 offers a new take on the curvy design first seen on the Motorola Pebl U6.

The U9 is covered in a glossy plastic material. It's pretty, but we worry about its long-term durability. Also, the U9 external display is hidden behind its glossy front face so it's visible only when the backlight is on.

The U9's rear face is covered in a soft touch material. The single speaker rests at bottom center.

The U9's keypad and controls were flush and a bit slippery.

The U9 has a comfortable, solid feel in the hand.

The camera lens sits just above the display. It lacks a flash.
