The Samsung Epic 4G is a multimedia powerhouse with features the other Galaxy S phones don't have. Unfortunately, it comes with a big price tag.

I started my career with CNET all the way back in 2005, when the (original) Motorola Razrs were all the rage. Since then, I've written about everything from consumer electronics to internet culture for outlets like CNET, Engadget and Yahoo. Outside of work, I'm a big fan of baseball, board games, tabletop RPGs and improv comedy.
The Samsung Epic 4G is the only Galaxy S phone to have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Super AMOLED
Like the other Galaxy S phones, the Samsung Epic 4G has a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1Ghz Hummingbird processor, and Samsung's new and improved TouchWiz 3.0 interface.

Solid build
The Samsung Epic 4G is easily the bulkiest of the Galaxy S series of phones, which is mostly due to the addition of the keyboard. That results in a decidedly solid and durable feel.

Slim enough
The Samsung Epic 4G is 0.56 inch thick, which is still quite slim for a slider phone.

Large
The Samsung Epic 4G's size results in a relatively large footprint, especially when held in small hands.

Spacious
In addition to the regular QWERTY keys, the keyboard also has four physical controls for the usual Android shortcuts for menu, home, back, and search.

5.0 megapixel
The Samsung Epic 4G has a 5.0-megapixel camera on the back in addition to an LED flash. It is the only Galaxy S phone to have a flash for the camera.
