Samsung trots out gaggle of gadgets (photos)

Among the many products Samsung showed off at its CES 2011 press conference and prior was the 9 Series laptop, which many say looks like a true competitor to the MacBook Air. The 9 Series comes with a second-generation Intel Core i5-2537M CPU, 4GB of DD43 RAM, and a 128GB solid-state drive, along with Windows 7 Professional. It goes for $1,599.

The company showed two large HDTVs surrounded by a border that's just two-tenths of an inch wide--practically invisible. The TVs--available in the first half of this year for an as yet unannounced price--will have what's being called a "1-foot connection," meaning any device in range of your TV or computer that's previously registered will automatically connect.

Samsung claims that the BD-D7500 Blu-ray player is the world's slimmest, coming in at 0.9 inch deep. It's 3D-compatible and also has built-in 2D-to-3D conversion processing.

A new "search all" feature on smart TVs will make it easier to find content and apps.

The Samsung Infuse 4G boasts a screen measuring 4.5 inches diagonally, making it one of the largest displays on a smartphone today. The phone will be available from AT&T.

The winners of Samsung's well-publicized "Free the TV" Challenge for app developers come onstage during the company's press event to accept a check for $200,000. They developed an app called "We Draw."

Samsung's new 3D monitors have a unique aesthetic design, especially in the case of the SA950, which has an extremely thin panel and wide footstand that attaches to the panel on the far right side.

The Sliding PC 7 is a funky hybrid touch-screen device with its own slide-out keyboard. It runs on Windows.
