Checking out the new Sky Q streaming box (pictures)

The new Sky Q Silver box is admirably svelte, but a powerful 2TB hard drive and 12 tuners lurk inside its skinny frame.

Alongside the main Sky Q Silver box, Sky is also selling a smaller Q Mini box, which sits in another room in your house, and funnels the same live channels and all of Sky's on-demand TV onto another television.

The Sky Q Hub ties the two boxes together. Its unassuming design won't take up too much space.

You navigate the Sky Q's menus with a brand-new Bluetooth-powered remote, called the Sky Q Touch Remote.

Swipe through menus on the touch-sensitive pad using your fingers. It's highly reminiscent of the tech used on the latest Apple TV box. Below are more controls and an alphanumeric keypad.
