Samsung Galaxy Camera: Where Android meets the larger lens

Not content to limit Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to smartphones and tablets, Samsung introduced its Galaxy Camera today at the IFA show in Berlin.

Jelly Bean and LCD

The Galaxy Camera departs from Samsung's smartphones in its 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD screen, rather than a display based on AMOLED technology.

16 megapixels

The Wi-Fi-enabled device features a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and a 21x optical touch zoom lens. In addition to Wi-Fi, the models will also feature 3G or 4G, presumably depending on carrier deals.

Editing galore

Samsung is talking up the device's editing and photo-centric features, like Smart Pro, which helps craft artistic shots through some quick shortcut settings.

More editing tools

All told, the Galaxy Camera will include 35 photo-editing tools through the Photo Wizard feature, another sign that Samsung will push its camera hard for the holidays and aim at casual consumers rather than professionals.
