The HTC Evo 4G is the first 4G phone for the U.S. market, running on Sprint's WiMax network. It will be available starting June 4 for $199.99 with a two-year contract. The smartphone will require an Everything Data Plan ($69.99) and a mandatory $10 Premium Data add-on for WiMax, regardless of whether you live in a 4G market or not.

Android 2.1 plus HTC Sense
The Evo 4G runs Android 2.1 with HTC Sense. The latter is HTC's custom skin for the Android platform and brings a more user-friendly interface and enhanced features.

Large but thin
Like the HTC HD2, the Evo 4G is quite large, measuring 4.8 inches tall by 2.6 inches wide and weighing 6 ounces. That said, it remains quite slim at just 0.5 inch thick.

Navigation controls
Below the Evo 4G's massive 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen, you get four touch-sensitive controls: home, menu, back, and search. A long-press of the home button will also bring up your most recently used apps.

Camera
The Evo 4G features an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and HD video recording. However, it also has a 1.3-megapixel camera on front that can be used with the Qik Chat app to make video calls.

Kickstand!
On bottom, you'll find the phone's Micro-USB and HDMI ports. The handset also has a sturdy kickstand that can be used to prop up the Evo so you can watch videos and view photos hands-free.
