Take a Closer Look at Sony's KD-X80K TV

The Sony X80K is the well-known brand's least expensive model for 2022. In our review of the Sony X80K TV we appreciated its Google TV-based smart TV system and connectivity, but its image quality didn't stand out.

Seen from the side the X80K is a bit thicker than some competing TVs like Samsung's QLED, but still slim enough.

Seen here in more detail are the thin stand leg and simpler remote.

Those thin legs supported the 55-inch TV well on our stand.

Sony's remote is thankfully smaller and simpler than in previous years, with shortcut keys for streaming services and built-in voice support for Google Assistant.

The X80K runs Google TV, which is our second favorite smart TV system after Roku.

Google TV integrates the grid guides from some live TV services, including YouTube TV.

The frame around the TV is pleasingly slim and the Sony logo is subtle.

The top corners are angled slightly and plenty slim as well.

In case you care about what a TV looks like from behind, Sony has some interesting textures.

One highlight is very good connectivity, featuring four HDMI and two USB ports.

The X80K has relatively a relatively basic game mode compared with the involved status displays of Samsung and LG TVs.
