Waving the flagship: A glance at the LG Optimus G (pictures)

Introduced in New York and South Korea, LG's newest flagship phone, the LG Optimus G, boasts a 4.7-inch True HD IPS+ touch screen and a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor.

With its 0.33-inch profile, the Optimus G is a slim device. It's also 5.19 inches tall, 2.71 inches wide, and weighs 5.11 ounces.

The Micro-USB port is shown here at the bottom of the handset.

At LG's New York press event, a model holds up the LG Optimus G to onlookers.

The handset includes Dual Screen Dual Play, which enables users to beam screen images onto a TV with their Optimus Gs.

To the left underneath the camera icon is an image of a head, which indicates the device's voice-activated Cheese shot function. Simply say "cheese," and the camera will take a picture.

In addition to Cheese shot, the Optimus G's camera also has HDR, panorama, and continuous shooting.

On the back of the handset is a whopping 13-megapixel camera with LED flash.

Our CNET Asia colleague, Aloysius Low, also got a chance to get his hands on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device.

The LG Optimus G's "crystal-inspired" rear is more luxurious than past LG products, which usually come with a typical plastic backing.

To conserve and lengthen the life of its 2,100mAh battery, the Optimus G has an eco-mode feature that optimizes the phone's quad-core usage.

During its Quadrant benchmark trial, the Optimus G outperformed the HTC One X and the Asus Transformer Prime.

The LG Optimus G's 4.7-inch screen is reportedly thinner than other handsets due to its Touch Hybrid Display technology.
