Sharp's mainstream 4K UE30 features Android TV

Sharp's new UE30 series is the company's mainstream 4K lineup for 2015 with three different sizes and features Google's Android TV onboard.

LAS VEGAS -- Announced at CES 2015 here, the UE30 is Sharp's mainstream 4K LCD and will come in three different sizes -- 60-, 70- and 80-inch.

The new range features an Ultra HD 3,840x2,160 resolution and comes with Sharp's own Revelation upscaler for converting SD and HD to 4K size. It comes with the expected goodness of HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 for playing 4K content as well.

The televisions will include a quad-core processor for faster app load times, plus current and future 4K codecs like H.265 and VP9.

Sharp's new SmartCentral 4.0 platform will let you browse and search set-top boxes and streaming services from one screen. It uses Google's Android TV platform for integrating apps and services with voice search and smartphone control.

The UE30 will be coming in spring 2015 with US pricing set at $2,000 for the LC60UE30, $2,800 for the LC70UE30 and $5,400 for the LC80UE30. Here's a quick look at the rest of the specifications:

  • Ultra-slim bezel, and stand placement capability at edge or center (on the 70- and 80-inch models)
