Electric scooters are an eco-friendly way to get around, if you've got a short commute or just want to get around campus. While some models can be expensive, you can nab the VMax VX5 electric scooter for just $299 right now, thanks to a $150 discount at Wellbots. That's an impressive price for a rideable, but we doubt this deal will stick around for long.

This model has a top speed of 18 mph, a range of up to 17 miles per charge and carries a maximum weight of 265 pounds. It is also IPX6-rated water-resistant and can handle inclines up to 25%. The scooter also has a mechanical brake in the front wheel and an electronic regenerative brake in the rear to help extend your range as much as possible. It only takes four hours to fully charge this scooter. Plus, it has a convenient fold and carry design for when you reach stairs or need to stow it away on the subway or at home -- and your purchase comes with a handy commuting bag, too.

Why this deal matters

Plenty of electric scooters go for well over $1,000. While this is already a more affordable scooter, the extra $150 discount really makes this model stand out. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but if you're looking for something that can handle the basics, this is a chance to upgrade to an electric scooter for under $300.
