Most Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now play the rebooted first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 through the service. Microsoft added the game to Xbox Game Pass on Wednesday after the company announced the release Tuesday.

"July 24. It's go time," Xbox said on X, formerly Twitter. "@CallofDuty: Modern Warfare III is coming to Game Pass!"

Microsoft is allowing Xbox Game Pass Console, PC and Ultimate -- but not Core -- subscribers to access the game. Subscribers can play through the game's story, multiplayer and zombies gameplay modes. If you've played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer on your Xbox console or PC already, you can transfer much of your content and weapons progressions into this game with the Carry Forward feature.

This marks the first Call of Duty game to arrive on Game Pass, but it's not the first game in the series Microsoft announced would land on the service. In May, Microsoft promised that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would be a Day 1 launch on Game Pass when it's released later this year.

The addition of Call of Duty to Game Pass comes weeks after Microsoft announced it was raising the prices of its Game Pass tiers (namely its Ultimate tier) and replacing the Console tier with a Standard tier -- which will cost $15 a month when it launches later this year. Now, PC Game Pass costs $12 a month and Ultimate costs $20 a month. Microsoft is no longer allowing people to sign up for its Game Pass Console tier, but previous Console tier subscribers can still access that plan for now.

Microsoft acquired Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard in 2023, and since then many subscribers have been waiting for the franchise to land on Game Pass. But this isn't the first game from the megapublisher to land on Game Pass. That honor goes to Diablo 4, which arrived on the service in March.

For more on Game Pass, here's which tier is right for you, what you should know about Game Pass Ultimate and what games landed on the service recently.
