He will be joined in the game by actors Gene Hackman and Laurence Fishburne, playing Police Supervisor Al Bressler and the Rev. Carlton Clay, respectively.
The game's 2007 bow will coincide with the release of the five movies--1972's "Dirty Harry," 1973's "Magnum Force," 1976's "The Enforcer," 1983's "Sudden Impact" and 1988's "The Dead Pool"--for a high-definition DVD boxed set. The Warner Bros. package will likely include footage from the vaults, as well as commentary from Eastwood and others.
The game, from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, will relate a new story set sometime between the first and second movies. Eastwood joked that the game allowed him to deliver the sequel fans have been clamoring for since he's "probably past retirement age" to play Callahan again in movies.
WBIE Senior Vice President Jeff Baker said the game and DVD releases were inseparable. "This is a major step in revitalizing the Dirty Harry franchise and introducing it to a whole new audience," he said, adding that the campaign will be "one of the most comprehensive in the entertainment business."
