Buh-bye, Flappy Bird?
Dong Nguyen, creator of the app that's been making $50,000 a day in ad revenue (and that some have called the worst smartphone game ever), tweeted Saturday that he'll be pulling the game Sunday. Apparently, all the attention it's been getting has been too much:
I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore.
— Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014Nguyen had tweeted earlier that he needed some peace:
Press people are overrating the success of my games. It is something I never want. Please give me peace.
— Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 4, 2014It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore.
— Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014He also said he won't be selling the game himself but that he still makes games:
I also don't sell 'Flappy Bird', please don't ask.
— Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014And I still make games.
