Microsoft is expanding the Xbox Cloud Gaming (still beta!) "stream your own game" program to more devices -- TVs and via Chrome, Safari and Edge browsers. The company also says it plans to follow up next year with support for the Xbox app on Windows and via Xboxes themselves. Since Xbox Cloud Gaming requires a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, it should go without saying that you can only take advantage of it if you subscribe.

It's taken Microsoft a couple of years to get to this point: development and a very limited program were announced two years ago. It's still taking a long time for Xbox to ramp up its cloud support: There are thousands of Xbox games and only about 380 now playable via the cloud. In contrast, for example, GeForce Now supports a couple thousand -- including some Xbox games -- and at higher quality for its top-tier subscription.

As for devices, you can't use it on all TVs or VR headsets; at the moment that means selected Samsung TVs and Amazon Fire devices, plus the Meta Quest 2, 3 or Pro.

Xbox Cloud Gaming has around 330 games from its own game library, and with today's announcement it brings on 51 more games from the Xbox store that aren't, including a handful of the older Final Fantasy games, Hogwart's Legacy, Baldur's Gate 3 and Modern Warfare 2, as well as some newer ones, such as Animal Well, Balatro, Star Wars Outlaws, Space Marine 2 and more.
