Onkyo's new midrange AVR, the TX-RZ30, offers Dolby Atmos playback, support for 8K video and Dirac Live Room Correction.
The Onkyo TX-RZ50 and the TX-NR6100 have been my two favorite AVRs for several years, and the newest model slots right in between them. The TX-RZ30 is a $1,200 receiver which offers 100 watts per channel and support for almost every streaming platform and surround codec.
Firstly, though, Dirac Live Room Correction offers an alternative to traditional calibration routines with control of the full frequency range (20 Hz to 20 kHz) for music and movies.Â
You can control the Onkyo receiver with Google Assistant and Siri, and you can stream Google Cast built-in, AirPlay 2, Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Tidal, Deezer, Pandora and Tunein. The receiver has two-way Bluetooth for listening to headphones as well as streaming from your phone. Sonos integration is also available.
While much of the competition sits below the $1,000 mark, the RZ30 has a little more wiggle room and takes on models such as the Yamaha A4A and the Denon AVR-X2800. Given the quality of its labelmates I'm expecting good things from the RZ30.
The Onkyo TX-RZ30 will be available in October 2024.
