Foxconn, one of Apple's top suppliers of iPhones and other devices, has temporarily halted operations in Shenzhen, China, due to a citywide lockdown imposed by the government after a COVID-19 outbreak.
Also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, Foxconn has suspended operations at two campuses and has worked to relocate production to other sites in an effort to reduce the impact of the lockdown, Bloomberg reported Sunday.Â
The company didn't specify the length of the pause, but Bloomberg reported that it is expected to last until March 20.Â
The lockdown in the city of millions comes as more than 3,300 coronavirus cases were reported Saturday in all of China, which has a population of over 1.4 billion. China has taken a different approach to COVID than many other countries with a zero-tolerance policy that translates into strict lockdowns for millions of people.
Apple and Foxconn didn't respond to a request for comment.Â
