I started my career with CNET all the way back in 2005, when the (original) Motorola Razrs were all the rage. Since then, I've written about everything from consumer electronics to internet culture for outlets like CNET, Engadget and Yahoo. Outside of work, I'm a big fan of baseball, board games, tabletop RPGs and improv comedy.

Right when we thought the T-Mobile Comet was the cheapest Android phone, at only $10 under contract, we learned today that you can get the black version of the LG Optimus T for the unbeatable price of free with a new two-year agreement from T-Mobile. Both the burgundy and titanium versions are still $29.99 each, but if you don't care that much about color, we definitely recommend getting the black one as it offers all the same features.

As a reminder, the LG Optimus T is billed as an entry-level smartphone, but you still get quite a healthy handset. It ships with Android 2.2, has both Wi-Fi and 3G, and it can act as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot. The only caveat is that the black Optimus T is Web-only, so you might want to click "Add to Cart" before T-Mobile comes to its senses.
