Amazon drivers work hard, often with little gratitude. But Amazon's "Thank My Driver" promotion is now back, offering you the chance to thank your hardworking driver at no additional cost to you.

The promotion runs for a limited time. According to Amazon, "during the 2025 holiday promotion, and starting on Dec. 3, drivers will receive $5 (with a maximum of one thank-you per delivery) at no cost to the customer. After the 2 million thank-you milestone is reached, every customer thank-you that follows until Dec. 31 will count toward 1,250 daily prizes of $100 to the most-thanked drivers each day. This includes 1,000 to Delivery Service Partner Delivery Associates, 200 Amazon Flex delivery partners, and 50 Amazon Hub Partners and Delivery Associates."

This matches previous promotions that have typically run through the holiday season.

Here's how you can thank your delivery driver on Amazon.

How to tip your Amazon driver for free

  • If you've got an Echo device, you can say, "Alexa, thank my driver."
  • If you don't own an Alexa device, you can search for the phrase "Thank my driver" on the Amazon app, and then click the top result.
  • On the Amazon website, I was also able to do it by logging in and following this link to reach a page with a big yellow "Thank my driver" button. Clicking it confirmed that a tip was sent to my driver for the most recent delivery.

Clicking on the "Thank your driver" will give the driver of your most recent delivery a $5 tip.

This applies to your most recent driver, valid for up to 14 days after the delivery date. You're also able to thank the same driver multiple times, but they'll only receive one tip per delivery.

In the past, Amazon ended the promotion after giving out a million thank-yous. (The company continued to send the thanks, even though no monetary reward was associated with it.) Last year, the company also ended its holiday promotion on Jan. 3, after 4 million thank-you messages were sent out. In this case, drivers will receive $5 up to 2 million thank-yous, then after Dec. 31, the thank-yous will count toward 1,250 daily prizes of up to $100 for the most thanked drivers.

Since Amazon introduced the Thank My Driver promotion in 2022, customers have thanked their delivery drivers more than 46 million times.

Amazon has previously come under scrutiny for allegedly withholding driver tips. An FTC settlement in 2022 resulted in Amazon paying a $61.7 million settlement to settle charges that it withheld tips from Flex drivers who use their own cars to deliver Amazon packages.

In this case, the money isn't coming directly from you, but Amazon is passing $5 along to the driver. In either case, it doesn't hurt to send a thank-you if you were happy with your most recent Amazon delivery.
