It's time to think of a new password if you use the Plex streaming platform. Plex, which has been around since 2009 and had 16 million active users as of 2023, notified its users Tuesday of a potential data breach.
Plex says emails, usernames and hashed passwords for a limited group of customers were exposed, The Verge reports. Credit card data was not exposed, and while the passwords were not accessed in plain text, Plex is urging users to change them anyway.
A representative for Plex didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Plex suffered a similar data breach in 2022.
While Plex can be used for free, a lifetime Plex Pass gives users access to such features as HD and 4K video streaming, syncing to mobile devices, more robust media sharing restrictions and the ability to skip credits.
