It's been nearly three years since Ted Lasso ended its three-season story arc, and, since then, fans have been waiting for news about the Emmy-winning comedy's future. In March last year, Apple announced the renewal of the soccer sitcom series for season 4. Today, the company released the update many have been waiting for: Ted Lasso will return to Apple TV this summer.
That's not a solid premiere date (I expect that to come in the next few months), but the midyear premiere timing is a smart decision, given that the FIFA World Cup kicks off in June.Â

Jason Sudeikis returns as the titular coach who, in the new episodes, will return to Richmond and head back to the pitch to lead a new team to victory. This time around, his iconic "Believe" sign will hang in the locker room of a second-division women's soccer team. As the press release states, he'll be "taking on his biggest challenge yet."
Returning with Sudeikis are Emmy winners Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. New faces joining the mix in the new season are Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.
The first season of Ted Lasso premiered on Apple TV in 2020 and became the most Emmy-nominated comedy series ever. Over its run, the program won a total of 13 Emmys, with the rare back-to-back win for Outstanding Comedy Series for its first two seasons.
